PDF to Word Converter

Choose a PDF that contains real, selectable text and get an editable Word file back. The conversion runs in your browser, so the PDF stays on your computer. The tool rebuilds paragraphs, headings, bold and italic, and reads two-column pages in the right order. It does not keep the exact page layout, pictures or true tables.

How to use the PDF to Word

  1. Drop your PDF on the box or click to choose it.
  2. Tick “Keep page breaks” if every PDF page should start a new page in Word.
  3. Click “Convert to Word” and wait while the pages are read. Progress is shown.
  4. Download the .docx and check it in Word or LibreOffice. Read the warnings shown under the result.

Tips for better results

  • Test with a short PDF first. If you can select and copy text in the PDF, this tool can read it. If you cannot, it is a scan.
  • Leave “Keep page breaks” off if you want the text to flow like a normal document that you will edit.
  • Expect to fix some things by hand: tables become lines of text, and pictures are left out.

Limitations you should know about

  • Only PDFs with selectable text. Scanned pages (pictures of text) cannot be read because the tool has no OCR (text recognition).
  • Pictures, drawings and real tables are not carried over. Table cells appear as text separated by tabs. The exact layout, fonts and spacing of the PDF are not kept.
  • Password-protected and restricted PDFs are refused. If you may open the file, print it to a new PDF first (Print, then Save as PDF).
  • Right-to-left text (Urdu, Arabic, Hebrew) is rebuilt on a best-effort basis and must be checked by hand. Vertical text, Type 3 fonts and fonts without text information are skipped.
  • Up to 25 MB and 300 pages. Tested against independent tools, not against every PDF created in the world.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. It is read in your browser, and the Word file is built there too. Nothing is sent to our server.

Why does it say my PDF has no selectable text?

The pages are pictures, usually from a scanner or a phone camera. Reading them needs OCR, which this tool does not have.

Will the Word file look like the PDF?

Roughly. Text, headings and bold/italic are rebuilt, but the exact layout, pictures and tables are not. It is meant for getting the text out so you can edit it.

Can it convert a PDF to Word with tables?

Not as real Word tables. The text of each row is kept, separated by tabs, and you can turn it into a table in Word.
